Global Goal #1: No Poverty

Another big issue is poverty, number 1. Poverty can affect a lot of people in many ways. And although Japan is a successful country in economics they are starting to get more people in poverty. 15.7% of Japanese people live in poverty. And that is 1% greater than countries with less economic resources. The countries child poverty is 16.3%. So just just because a place is very successful with economics does not mean that there is no chance of poverty. The people in Tokyo that don’t have an amazing education have to work low paying jobs. Tokyo is also very overpopulated and that affects how many people get to work. More than 1.23 million single mother households exist the earn only 40% of the average household income. After the bombing in Fukushima there was a really big drop in jobs for middle aged people. And 20% of the world’s earthquakes happen in Japan and that really messes with people. People lose their homes and their jobs because of these natural disasters. There a lot of reason why Tokyo would be in poverty. And there might not be a lot to do about it. You can’t stop something like a natural disaster. But the people there a smart and if they really focus on these problems then something great will happen. And you never know they could stumble on something that could help poverty everywhere.
