Top Ten Best Mexican Futbol Players

There have been a lot of very successful football players from Mexico. Some of them making it to some teams in Europe. And others playing in the local teams. But there have been a few players that have made their mark forever. These people are football legends. Here is a list of the top ten best football players of all time. (note these might not all be from my opinion this are just in general, and what other people think).
Number 10.) Carlos Hermosillo. This man has scored more goals in the local tournament and the second all time. With América, Monterrey, Cruz Azul, Necaxa, Atlante and Guadalajara he scored 279 times, 153 of those with Cruz Azul.
It was in that team where he spent his best years, which resulted in 90 caps for the national team and 35 goals—he is the third best scorer of El Tri.
Number 9.) Luis Hernández. He shares the third place in the all time Mexico topscorers’ table with Carlos Hermosillo. Luis played for Cruz Azul in his season (1991/1992), however, it was 1995 when he showed his true capacity.
Number 8.) Salvador Reyes. He is the top scorer of Chivas de Guadalajara with 122 goals. He has won seven championships with the club and was part of the squad called the Campeonísimo. He has played three world cups and scored 14 times El Tri.
Number 7.) Luis De La Fuente. He dubbed Pirata because his father owned the ships in which he used to spend his days as a child was one of the first Mexican footballer to play abroad. After an amazing performance at the 1934 World Cup qualifier, de la Fuente signed with Racing de Santander, he played one season before returning to Mexico.
Number 6.) Antonio Carbajal. La Tota was the first player to appear in 5 wolds cups. And was placed 15th in the list of the best Goalkeepers of the century. According to the IFFHS. He played a match against Wales in Sweden 1958. After a draw, Mexico secured its first point in the World Cup. he only played for two clubs in his career. Carbajal is the only Mexican player that has received the FIFA Order of Merit.
Number 5.) Horacio Casarín. In 1938 he was part of the national team that secured the gold medal at the Central American and Caribbean Games held in Panama. Horacio Casarín debuted as a defender, but he was eventually moved to the attacking zone. He was 17 years old when he came off of his first game with Necaxa. He was going though the best moment when a serious injury sidelined him. The fans were so angry they burnt the stadium. He didn’t recover until two years later and played 7 seasons. He played the 1950 FIFA World Cup and he retired as the all-time Mexican scorer, with 256 goals to his count.
Number 4.) Cuauhtémoc Blanco. This guy is one of the most controversial footballers the country has ever had. He is the second all time scorer of El Tri, with 39 goals. He spent 12 seasons with the club of America. He played with Necaxa, Real Valladolid and Veracruz in between. Later he left and joined Chicago Fire for three seasons. He also became a key player for El Tri in 1999. From 1995 to 2010, Blanco appeared in 121 games with Mexico national team and played in three World Cups, scoring three times.
Number 3.) Jorge Campos. He had a very flamboyant kits and charisma was his signature. He debuted as a striker, he scored 14 times in his first season with UNAM, later he earned the goalkeeper position. He stayed with Pumas for seven seasons before he moved to Atlanta. He also played for Los Angeles Galaxy, Cruz Azul, Chicago Fire, Tigres UANL and Puebla.
Number 2.) Rafael Marquez. He was the first Mexican the win the UEFA champions league. He is considered the best defender in the country's football history!!! The played three years with Atlas before moving to Europe. He started his career in 1996, he played over 70 games with Atlas before he moved.
Number 1.) Hugo Sánchez. From 1977 to 1994, Sánchez was a member of the Mexico national team, gaining 58 caps and scoring 29 goals. He participated in three FIFA World Cup tournaments and was a part of the Mexico team that reached the quarter-finals of the 1986 World Cup. As a manager, he won two-consecutive league championships with UNAM. After managing Necaxa, he was announced as coach of the Mexico national football team in 2006, but was fired in March 2008 due to poor results.In 2009, Sánchez was named manager of UD Almería, and helped to save the club from relegation.
