DIY Mexican God's Eye Craft

These cool crafts are fun decorations and trinkets to make. Here are step-by-step instructions on how to create these cool artsy activities.

Step 1: Gather Materials

For this project, you need:

-Yarn (in multiple colors if you want)

-2 popsicle sticks

-Scissors

-Glue (hot glue works best, but any glue would work if you are patient enough to let it dry)

Step 2: Glue

Take your two popsicle sticks and glue them together at the center to make an x or a cross. It should look like this:

Step 3: Wrap the yarn

This step is the trickiest. To create a God's eye you have to wrap the yarn in a certain way. First, tie the yarn around one of the popsicle sticks close to the center. Then, move the yarn on top of the center diagonally like in the picture below.

Wrap it around the stick to the right one full rotation, then cross it diagonally again.

Continue with this pattern until you feel like your "eye", or center part, is complete. Wrap it around to the right, cross it diagonally, wrap it around to the right, cross it diagonally. You get the idea.

Once you have your "eye", if you want to you can change to color of your string. You do this by cutting the string, and then simply tying the other one onto the piece of string you just cut.

Now that you're done with the center part, the pattern of yarn-wrapping switches. Now, you don't go diagonally across the middle, but you wrap it all the way around, then move to the stick to the right, wrap it all the way around, move to the stick to the right, etc.

When you're done, it should look like this:

Now all you have to do is cut the string and hot-glue it to the back. Tada! You've got your finished God's eye!
